Data transmission and logging for internal system and statistical purposes
For technical reasons, your Internet browser automatically transmits data to our web server when you access our website. This data includes:
- The date and time of access to our server,
- the URL of the previously visited website (referrer),
- the URL of the retrieved file,
- the amount of data sent,
- browser type and version and operating system
This data is stored on the servers of our provider Netrics Hosting AG, Lyss/Biel (Switzerland) separately from other data that you enter when using our offer. For reasons of technical security, in particular to defend against attempted attacks on our web server, we store this data for a short period of time. It is not possible for us to draw conclusions about individual persons on the basis of this data. The data is later anonymized by shortening the IP address at domain level, so that it is no longer possible to establish a link to the individual user. The data is also processed in anonymized form for statistical purposes; it is not compared with other data or passed on to third parties, even in excerpts.
Your IP address is logged and stored in connection with a subscription to our newsletter.
Collection and use of personal information
In principle, you can use this website without disclosing your personal information. This is understood to mean data that can be used to reveal your identity, such as your name, postal or e-mail address. There is no personal evaluation of the information that our provider obtains by calling up this website. Any provision of personal data on this website by you is on a voluntary basis.
As a matter of principle, the data you submit via our online forms is transmitted to us securely and in encrypted form. This prevents access by unauthorized third parties. We use the SSL procedure for this purpose, for which our website has been certified by COMODO CA Limited.
SOS Children's Villages collects such personal data from donors and interested parties that is required for the purposes of fundraising and donation administration or for processing inquiries: this includes, for example, registering for an SOS sponsorship, making an online donation, registering for the newsletter or participating in a competition. We also use your address and, with your consent, your e-mail address and telephone number, within the guidelines of data protection legislation, to send you your (annual) donation receipt and information about our charitable work.
Disclosure of personal information to third parties
Personal information will not be distributed, shared, loaned or sold to companies or organizations that are not part of the SOS Children's Villages organizational structure. In the event that third parties are brought in for administrative services such as credit card processing, these services will only be purchased on the condition that all personal information is kept strictly confidential, used solely for the purpose of the contracted services and in the spirit of SOS Children's Villages worldwide.
To avoid duplicate contact with donors and to clarify queries, SOS Children's Villages Worldwide Hermann Gemeiner Fonds Deutschland e.V. grants SOS Children's Villages e.V. read-only rights to necessary personal data. The data protection information can be viewed accordingly at https://www.sos-kinderdorf.de/portal/ueber-uns/transparenz/datenschutz.
Disclosure of usage data and/or personal data
By order of the competent authorities, we may in individual cases provide information about data stored by our provider or by the SOS Children's Villages worldwide, to the extent that this is necessary for the purposes of law enforcement, to avert danger, to fulfill the statutory tasks of the constitutional protection authorities or to enforce intellectual property rights.
This is also the case if we have reason to believe that there has been a violation or misuse of our website. In these cases, we reserve the right to disclose the correspondingly necessary personal information or the information required by the authorities.
Cookies
We use so-called cookies to enhance the functionality of our website, to make it more convenient for you to use and to measure and optimize our advertising campaigns. Except for the cookies necessary for the functioning of the website and the Consent Management, only cookies with your active consent are used on the website. They can revoke their consent at any time through the Consent Management Tool. With e.g. statistics cookies, we also anonymously measure user behavior (e.g. mouse movements, clicks, scroll height, etc.) on our web pages and evaluate it. With the help of these cookies, data can be stored on your computer when you call up our website. You have the option of preventing cookies from being stored on your computer by making the appropriate settings in your browser. However, this may limit the functionality of our offer and certain services can no longer be used by you.
When the user visits our website for the first time, the user is asked to check our cookie notice and then either accept or reject our cookies. Consent can be changed and revoked at any time using the link below: Configure
Cookie settings with the cookie consent management tool (‘Usercentrics’)
This website uses Usercentrics' cookie consent technology to obtain your consent to the storage of certain cookies on your end device and to document this in compliance with data protection regulations. The provider of this technology is Usercentrics GmbH, Rosental 4, 80331 Munich, Germany, website: https://usercentrics.com/de/ (hereinafter referred to as ‘Usercentrics’).
When you visit our website, the following personal data is transmitted to Usercentrics:
- Your consent(s) or the revocation of your consent(s)
- your IP address
- Information about your browser
- Information about your end device
- Time of your visit to the website
Furthermore, Usercentrics stores a cookie in your browser in order to be able to allocate the consents given to you or their revocation. The data collected in this way is stored until you ask us to delete it, delete the Usercentrics cookie yourself or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies. Mandatory statutory retention obligations remain unaffected. Below you will find a list of the different types of cookies that we and third parties use on the website: Strictly necessary cookies (=necessary), statistics cookies (service or performance cookies), marketing cookies. Usercentrics is used to obtain the legally required consent for the use of cookies. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. c GDPR.
Our website uses three different types of cookies:
1. necessary cookies, required for the use of the website.
These anonymous cookies are necessary for the use of the website. For example, they are used for certain functions in the website's donation and contact forms. If you disable these cookies, you may experience functional limitations in your use of the Website. Examples include cookies that control the delivery of the website via load balancers.
Use of Piwik Pro
We use the Piwik Pro tool to design our website in line with requirements. This is a service provided by Piwik PRO GmbH Lina-Bommer-Weg 6 51149 Cologne, Germany. This web analytics service is a piece of software that enables us to statistically evaluate user access to our website. The information generated by this software about the use of our website is stored on the Piwik Pro server and does not leave the territory of the European Union and the European Economic Area. A corresponding order processing contract has been concluded. Your IP address is only processed in shortened form and thus anonymized. A conclusion on your person is not possible for us. Further information on the terms of use and data protection regulations can be found at: https://piwikpro.de/datenschutz-sicherheit/. You have the option to object to the processing for analysis purposes at any time. This requires only a mouse click. If this is the case, a so-called opt-out cookie without usage data will be stored in your browser with the consequence that Piwik Pro will not collect any session data.
Here you can opt in and out of tracking with Piwik Pro. To opt out of tracking, we set an opt-out cookie in your browser.
Currently you are logged out from tracking with Piwik Pro. By clicking on the checkbox, you opt out of tracking.
2. statistics cookies (performance cookies) with your consent
Statistics or performance cookies (performance cookies) are only used if you actively agree to their use via the Consent Tool. You can revoke your consent at any time. Statistical or performance cookies (performance cookies) are anonymous cookies that help us optimize the website. They allow us to analyze our website, optimize it, transfer content faster, make it technically more powerful and detect any technical problems that may occur (such as cookies for web analytics programs like Google Analytics). You can revoke your consent at any time through the Consent Management Tool.
Cookies for web analysis programs collect and store data in pseudo-anonymized form for marketing and optimization purposes. From this data, usage profiles are created under a pseudonym. Cookies can also be used for this purpose, but they collect and store data exclusively in pseudonymous form. The data is not used to personally identify the visitor to this website and is not merged with data about the bearer of the pseudonym.
The collection and storage of data for web analysis and optimization can be objected to at any time with effect for the future through the cookie tool.
3. marketing cookies and social media plug-ins with your consent.
With our permission, this type of cookie is usually placed on our website by advertising networks that we use to attract new supporters. We also count our social media cookies such as Facebook as marketing cookies. Marketing cookies are set after their active consent through the Consent Tool and can be revoked at any time through the same.
We use such cookies in order to:
- measure and optimize the effectiveness of an advertising campaign via a specific advertising network.
- limit the frequency with which each ad is displayed to you.
- display relevant ads that may be tailored to specific target groups (targeting).
These cookies register, for example, the visit to our website, measure and analyze the number of completions (e.g. of donations and sponsorships) and clicks in relation to our advertising spend. Because these cookies are included by the advertising networks we use, we share this information with our partners. However, we do not associate our marketing cookies with any information that could be used to personally identify you, and we do not otherwise provide any personal information to advertisers or third-party websites.
In principle, you can set opt-outs from participating marketing companies at "Your Online Choices", an initiative of the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance EDAA, which in turn is part of a code of self-regulation of the Interactive Advertising Bureau IAB: http://www.youronlinechoices.com/de/praferenzmanagement.
Furthermore, you can also adjust or deactivate the use of certain marketing cookies directly with the provider at any time here:
- Adform: https://site.adform.com/datenschutz-opt-out/
- Facebook: http://de-de.facebook.com/privacy/explanation.php
- LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls/retargeting-opt-out
- Google advertising (AdWords / YouTube): https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated?hl=de
In addition, you can specifically customize the ads that are displayed using DoubleClick's technology. To do so, please access the www.google.de/settings/ads page and make the desired settings there.
