Children's rights
Our political work for children's rights worldwide
Our work and decades of experience as a family pedagogical pioneer form the basis for our commitment to society and politics. In addition to our development programs, the SOS Children's Villages also campaign for the rights and interests of children politically.
How we support:
We approach political decision-makers in governments, parliaments and authorities around the world in order to raise their awareness of children's rights. With our specialist knowledge, we provide information about the situation of children in need and call on politicians to act. We combine our project work with political work as an advocate for children's rights. On the basis of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, we are committed to the best interests of the child and the participation of all children in society.
- Our goal is to influence political decisions and to change social framework conditions in such a way that child protection, living conditions and future prospects of children are sustainably improved.
- We stand up for the rights of all children. Our special concern is for those children who have to grow up without parents or who are in danger of losing their parents. They suffer most from poverty, rejection and discrimination and are more likely to be victims of exploitation and abuse.
- We encourage young people to participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives.
