Our recommendation: Direct debit and credit card are the best online donation options for you and us. This results in the lowest administrative costs and you make it easier for us to allocate your donation for the issue of the donation receipt.

• Direct debit (SEPA): No bank fees will be charged for your donation.
• Credit card: There are also no transaction fees when paying by Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
• Paypal: When paying by Paypal, there is a 35 cent plus 1.2% of the donation amount in PayPal fees. The minimum donation amount for payments via PayPal is €10.

We therefore recommend payment by direct debit or credit card.

Note: With any of the offered payment methods you will of course receive a donation receipt for the full donation amount. If you pay by Paypal, Paydirekt, the SOS Children's Villages will bear the fees incurred. These are incurred by us as administrative costs.

Your donation via our online donation form is as secure as online banking. Your data is transmitted fully encrypted:

• We use the SSL procedure (SSL certificate with extended verification - Extended Validation SSL). Our website is certified by COMODO CA Limited.
• When donating by credit card payment, the 3D Secure procedure (MasterCard Secure Code or Verified by VISA) provides additional protection.

You can donate online by direct debit (SEPA) once or regularly. For you, this is simple and convenient - and there are no fees for us.

By filling out the donation form or direct debit form online and confirming it with a click, you give SOS Children's Villages worldwide a SEPA mandate. You will receive the preliminary information with all important key data for your SEPA direct debit such as due date and the exact amount by e-mail.

The SEPA direct debit procedure replaced the direct debit authorization and direct debit procedure previously used in Germany in 2014 for bank collection. This standardized the direct debit procedure in the European Union. SEPA stands for "Single European Payment Area".

Here's how you can make a secure online donation by credit card via Saferpay:

• You first fill out the online donation form on our website and select credit card as the payment method.
• When you then confirm this selection, you will be redirected directly to the "Saferpay" e-payment platform. There you select your credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express) and enter your credit card details. You have then made your online donation by credit card.
• Saferpay uses the 3-D Secure procedure (MasterCard Secure Code or Verified by VISA) to provide additional security for credit card payments. 3-D Secure prevents data and identity theft and thus prevents misuse of the credit card.

Furthermore, Saferpay guarantees the security standard PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), which is supported by all major credit card organizations.

Just as in the online donation form on our website, Saferpay also uses the SSL encryption method.

Unfortunately, this is not possible: we ask for your understanding that we can no longer accept donations in kind. The reasons are as follows:

• Forwarding parcels and packages to our SOS Children's Villages around the world now unfortunately involves disproportionately high costs for packaging and transport.
• In addition, strict import regulations often apply in the respective countries for clothing and toys, for example. In many cases, only new goods are allowed to be imported; used items must be accompanied by a certificate of hygiene, usually a certificate of disinfection. This also causes additional costs.
• Last but not least, there are often considerable customs difficulties at the point of destination when the goods are received.
• All of these additional costs and the administrative overhead associated with shipping would ultimately have to be paid for out of the donations entrusted to us.

Instead of sending donations in kind, SOS Children's Villages create needed goods and services in the respective country whenever possible. We can have most things manufactured locally or buy them at local markets. In this way, we save transport costs and contribute to regional economic development in poor countries.
